Besides parents, who has the greatest opportunity to shape future
generations? Teachers! That’s why teachers are truly “Sweeter than
Honey!” Thank you to all those who came to our Teacher Appreciation Service last Sunday, May 4. Special thanks to the 20 teachers and support staff, including those in our Open Door family, who were our honored guests. Teachers from pre-school through high school; home school and private school; part-time, full-time, and substitutes; active and retired; administrators and office staff; custodians and school bus transportation: you all make a difference in the life of a child.
We especially appreciate Dr. Phyllis Chase, Superintendent of Schools, taking time from her busy schedule to give us an inspirational challenge on the importance of the teaching profession and the difference an effective teacher makes in a student's future success.
It is no coincidence
that the noblest title ascribed to Jesus on earth was . . . Teacher. Pastor Phil reminded us that teaching is a challenging, rewarding, and honorable profession. And that by love, inspiration, focus, and sacrifice, a simple teacher named Jesus transformed the world.
The teaching profession, not unlike others, has its unique ups
and downs. But, on behalf of parents,
our community, and your friends at Open Door Church, we thank you for
educating, equipping, and inspiring over 17,000 students yearly to achieve their
highest potential. Thanks for caring enough to share your life with our
kids!
